Almost 500 web site visitors took time to fill out the NGT survey, while almost 1,000 completed the Transport for Leeds questionnaire.
Exhibition and interviews
Over 1,000 people were interviewed during a four-day city centre exhibition in November and a further 1,500 Transport for Leeds packs and questionnaires were distributed to people in Leeds city centre in mid-December.
NGT
NGT (New Generation Transport) is a brand-new, high-quality more environmentally-friendly transport system that could transport passengers quickly and comfortably into Leeds city centre.
Using people’s feedback, route and vehicle ideas are being developed in more detail, in order to see which combination gives Leeds the best value for money.
We are aiming to submit a business case for NGT in summer 2009, which the Department for Transport will use to decide whether to fund the system.
Transport for Leeds
Transport for Leeds, is the largest transport research project ever undertaken in Leeds and also has involved over 110,000 motorists, bus users and rail passengers.
The detailed information collected is being used by transport planners to devise a costed package of public transport and road improvement measures designed to combat the growth of congestion.
These will be unveiled during the summer when there will be further opportunity for people to comment on them.
