Are Trolleybuses on a return journey?
Policy director of the Transport Planning Society Nick Richardson asks the question in 'Passenger Transport’ magazine.
In his article, Richardson says that NGT ‘should not be allowed to remain as a demonstration scheme’ and that ‘other applications should be waiting in the wings to realise the advantages that trolleybuses offer’.
He describes the plans for NGT as ‘a major milestone for the city and a highly significant step forward in urban transit with implications for other areas’, considers the reasons that led to the demise of trolleybuses in the past and discusses why the time is now right for them to return again.
