Public consultation findings
An outline of the results from our public consultation, where we asked what you thought of our New Generation Transport proposals.
14 April 2009
In November 2008 we held a series of public exhibitions in Leeds city centre, to give people more information about the NGT proposals. We also gave out information at libraries, One Stop Shops and on our web site.
We asked you to give us your views by filling in questionnaires, at the exhibitions or online, between November 2008 and January 2009.
Results overview
Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill in a questionnaire – in total around 1,800 questionnaires were completed and these have now been analysed. The findings from the questionnaire show that:
- Over 95% say they think public transport in Leeds could be improved.
- There was a positive response to the proposals, with people welcoming the improvements in quality it would bring, and the provision of Park & Ride sites.
- People want to see more frequent and reliable services, cheaper fares, more bus lanes and less crowded services.
- Over one third of those who filled in a questionnaire want cleaner and more environmentally friendly vehicles.
What happens now?
Work is currently underway to develop the proposals for NGT in more detail. We are planning to hold further public exhibitions in Summer 2009, when we will ask for your views again.
The dates and locations for these exhibitions are being finalised and will be advertised on this web site and in the local press.
